I spent some time paddling Jordan Lake on the kayak. I’ve done the same in the past with a much shorter lens, and a lot less experience. It’s good to be back in a kayak. I’m really pleased with how many photography opportunities I had in a short time. It’s fun to anticipate a bird’s move and try to get into a position, the right position, with the sun behind you. It’s a weird feeling to be bobbling in boat wakes while your eye is focused through a 400mm lens while pointed at the sky. It’s almost disorienting, but if you keep the shutter speed up, it doens’t seem to affect images. Ospreys were actively fishing, herons too. I even spotted a cottontail on the way out with the car. I’ll be back, and often.
I sell prints of these and other images via my SmugMug site. Thanks for looking, and please share any thoughts or questions in the comments!
