Welcome to my new photography portfolio and blog. I mostly created this as a place to share photos with those interested. I’m on the facebutt and the twittle, but this is a place I can share without feeling like I’m oversharing. You like stuff here, you come visit! Thanks!
So here’s a photo to get things rolling. I made it early this morning at one of my favorite bird watching haunts at the end of the trail along the Haw River in Bynum, NC. The sun was coming up over the trees behind me, but most of the water was in the shade. Birds were moving, and I got some mediocre shots at great distances (more on gear below).
…and then this happened!
They popped out just across the creek from me and crossed a rapid that I wouldn’t ever attempt. The river is high from recent rains. No problem for these two young bucks. I’ll never forget it! Luckily I was ready with my Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Telephoto lens that I’m currently renting (until I ultimately buy one, it’s awesome!). I’ve been extremely happy with the long lens, and I hope to continue to make some great wildlife shots with it. Thanks visiting!
